Deschutes Brewery & PDX Clocktower’s 30th Birthday

Summer is here and that means 2 things – more traveling and more beer. Luckily for you Babes, why not do both to kick off the summer! Deschutes has not opened a location in Oregon for 10 years and they decided why not open a location within the Portland airport? Deschutes is such an iconic brewery in not just Portland but Oregon. Starting in Bend, Deschutes has done nothing but grow. It only made sense for Deschutes to join the Port of Portland team.

Bringing their delicious beer and tasty food, they officially get their wings on Friday, June 22nd. They are keeping their menu somewhat simple and will now serve breakfast! I know you are all craving their ribeye or pizza but keep in mind this is an airport. All their ingredients go through security and most people are eating before a flight. Their iconic pretzel, garlic fries, pub burger and more are still being served here so definitely feel free to stop on in. The food came out within 5-7 minutes and it was all better than I had expected. They are known for their IPAs but they also want to be known for food. “Pub” food is always so basic but Deschutes really tries hard to have more elevated food.

This opening just so happens to be their 30th anniversary so as you can tell, they have made their way into Portlandian’s hearts. I love the idea of them being in the airport because it can be the first or the last stop for locals/visitors before leaving the state. Deschutes is the definition of Oregon just like the rest of the PDX restaurant/shops. When you think of Portland you think of beer, food, and hipsters. What does the Portland airport have? Just that! All of the shops/restaurants are one tight nit community including restaurants/stores likes Deschutes, Bluestar, The Country Cat, Nike, Made in Oregon and so on. The Portland airport is voted the best airport for a reason, right?

The clocktower in the Portland airport is also celebrating their 30th birthday. The PDX carpet is for sure infamous but the clocktower, in my mind, is second. If you say clocktower, some people may be like “what is that” and others know exactly where I mean. It’s definitely a piece that most people overlook but if you so happen to notice it, you will never forget where it is. With both Deschutes and the Clocktoweer turning 30, why not have a Brewfest?

No other way to spend the afternoon than in a beer garden located at the Clocktower from 1130a to 1:30p. The first 500 guest get a pin and you can actually collect all 4 pins for the 4 events that will be occurring. There will be dozen of craft beers including an exclusive Deschutes that debuts at the Brewfest. This celebration is just the start because Fridays throughout summer, there will be some type of event with a restaurant/store. PDX is super in tune with what is going on with the rest of Portland and they definitely support local events and companies. I will attach the link at the bottom for all of you babes to review more! I hope to see you all at this event or future Port of Portland events.
